Flower by Moby: what is the genre?
I don’t mean what genre is Moby, but the style the women are chanting. Sounds like an ole chain gang song. Southern blues, what? It rocks.

I’m not really into Blues and Jazz, Metal has always been my genre. But, I would like to learn how to play these styles as well. I’m looking for some fairly simple songs, I am still a begjning bassist.(2 weeks) I can play a few metal songs fairly well, although I can be expected to have a note buzz one of every 6 notes.
I’ve recently become interest in the Blues, and I would like to know who are a few good Blues musicians to begin listening too. So I can break into the genre. I’d like to start with a good base in the historical or early blues artists. A few modern Blues musicians would also be appreciated.
Blues-rock is my favorite genre and I’m looking to hear some new blues-rock artists!
My List:
Joe Bonamassa
The Brew
Black Keys
Chris Duarte
The Answer
Edit; Jake W, Hmmm, those are interesting "blues-rock" artists, Lol.
You still get a TU for me for effort and links!
Edit: Sookie, Thanks for the Links!
I’ve liked the sound of blues and folk music for as longs I can remember, but have never really had any idea where to start in terms of musicians. Can someone suggest some blues or folk musicians for someone just starting into the genre? Thanks in advance!
suggests some artists, also I’d love to listen to blues mixed with another genre
I like some Blues as I am just getting into that genre. I like Taj Mahal and Otis Redding. Can anyone recommend some blues artists along those lines who I may like? I dont’ like the real old slow stuff.. just feel good tunes.
i want some really good blues songs. kinda like the old ones the slaves used to sing or the black jazz musicians used to play. i really love that genre but i cant find any of it!
I really want to learn more about old southern blues music. I know a few names, like Son House, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Willie Johnson, and Bessie Smith, but I’d like to expand my knowledge of this genre. I want to listen to the real stuff from the beginnings of this style. I want to listen to the real blues. Any suggestions on who to listen to? Thanks!
oh, and I forgot earlier!~ what’s the best online place to listen to these songs?
Doe anyone know of a website that specifically caters to this genre?
