This is a blues rock piece I wrote recently. The opening progression is done with a trio of 9th chords, with a few interspersed arpeggios, and dominated by vocals. As the intro winds down, vocals take over completely and the last stanza is acapella. Following that, the main riff is a simple blues rock riff that is inspired heavily by ZZTopp. In fact, most of you will recognize the strum pattern from La Grange. The key is in D, rather than A, as ZZTopp did it, and the progression is I VI V with a flat 6th rather than ZZTopp’s I IV V progression.
