Bones Instrument, History and How to play
The Bones instrument were played by my grandfather. He left me a set of 4 ebony bones that I use in this video. I go over the history a little bit of the bones and show instructions about how to play them. You will also see oak bones that I made. The original instruments were played in ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and China. I have or have made bones from birch, walnut, purpleheart, coco bola, and oak. The originals were rib bones, of course. Also made in metal, plastic, bamboo and 40 other exotic woods. Bones are played by French-Canadian bluegrass zydeco and blues musicians. They were used in the minstrel shows. My Toastmaster club had a meeting on a trolley in Santa Barbara where we went to the Santa Barbara Mission and I gave this talk about the bones.
